Find which apps drain your battery
Use Android’s battery-usage evidence to identify unusually power-hungry apps before restricting, uninstalling, or replacing anything.
Check usage before changing settings
- Open Settings → Battery → Battery usage.
- Choose the app view where available and compare use over a meaningful period.
- Tap an app to review background use and its battery setting.
Interpret the result carefully
High use can be normal for navigation, video, gaming, calls, or an app used for hours. Look for consumption that is unexpected for your actual use.
Use the least disruptive response
Update or restart a misbehaving app first. Keep the normal optimized battery setting unless delayed notifications or another documented need justifies a change. Force-stopping essential apps can cause problems.
If the problem is notification overload rather than battery use, adjust only the relevant alert type in Control app notifications without missing important alerts.
Menu names vary by manufacturer and Android version; use the device maker’s official instructions when this route differs.
